Painting in Winter

During the winter months we work much more in the studio setting. It is more comfortable but there are distractions around, telephones, computers, piles of laundry - there are some strategies we can use of we have these sorts of distractions to make sure we give ourselves the best chance of producing stellar artwork.

I seem to do well with habits and so I try to work at the same time every morning / afternoon - this schedule gives my brain an expectation and an opportunity a couple of hours to paint.

Wonderful

I make a point of a lead in activity that gets me primed - if I have works in progress those are placed where I can see them easily

If I have a no idea start by looking a my favorite photos - photos I have decided to paint at sometime - there are enough to last a lifetime

But sometimes I NEED to get out and PAINT UP A STORM...

Gary, who knew? Few slugs of whiskey must be the magic ingredient, maybe we can forget all the practice and just drink...:)
